xbox live connection problem

I need help connecting to xbox live i bought a wireless gaming adaptor for my 360. so that i could connect to xbox live wirelessly the problem is that everytime i go to network settings to go to wireless mode its grayed out and i have a wireless network.
If anyone has any ideas how fix this it would be a big help Gotme
