RE: what helmet?

Helmet fitment guides online will get you a general estimate of how it's going to fit....and it will. You can count on them for that.
However, the best thing would be to go somewhere to try some on. This will give you the best idea. The measurement is around but doesn't account for how narrow, wide, short, tall someones head is....or for hair. LoL. This is where trying them on is good. Most motorcycle shops will have helmets where car shops usually don't. There, you can get an idea of what brands fit the best. Just like any clothes, some brands run a tad larger and some run smaller.

Another thing you can do is contact the people who run your local clubs and see if they have loaner helmets for autox days. If they do (and you're comfortable with it) just roll to the track and use one of their loaners. Once at the track, you'll be able to try different loaners on. Also....at most autox events, EVERYONE is there to help. You will pick up more info on your first couple days at the track than you could ever imagine. With that said...talk to a couple people. I'm sure some "open and cool" people will even let you check out their helmet. At the least, you'll hear what everyone uses and you'll get to see some. The key is to be cool and respectful of everything and just talk to everyone. Most people there absolutely love to help each other. Just don't distract people during "important" times.

The two I showed in my last post are VERY VERY VERY popular where I came from (up in Minnesota) and are really popular here in Florida as well. I guess it's safe to say these two are kinda universally liked helmets. (safe bets)

RE: what helmet?

Yup...it needs to have a SNELL rating of SA 2005 and M 2005 to compete in any SCCA autocross event. I use the Pyrotect open face and got it from SoloRacer.com

RE: what helmet?

Gabe, you can still use the snell rating of SA2000 or M2000 in SCCA until 2010.
