Transmission ?'s

My tranny is now making a crazy noise, I originally thought it could be my throw-out bearing but the noise is not present when I depress the clutch.
I recently took my Civic to my mechanic for a re-build due to the rapid rise of the gas prices, instead of getting a B18 powerplant like I wanted. I had my mechanic replace the head gasket/Timing Belt/Water Pump/Valve Job/ Cam Seals/Crank Seals and Piston Rings so things should be good for another 90K.
I was told by my mechanic that it is likely the transmission bearing making the noise and he quoted me $750 to get it repaired is this a reasonable price?

Oh by the way my Civic just hit 200K and I snapped a photo from my phone to document it. LOL

RE: Transmission ?'s

yeah you might be better off just buying a new/er tranny, i ordered a tranny from a company out of the thrifty nickel for $500 with a good warranty, you might try them

RE: Transmission ?'s

A buddy of mine recommended trying some Red-Line transmission fluid he swears by the stuff. Do you think this will offer some temporary relief by quieting down the tranny?

RE: Transmission ?'s

Its your input shaft bearing (ISB) if it goes away when you press the clutch in. The bearing is cheap but if you don't have a spare tranny to slap on while you do the work I wouldn't suggest doing it.
