My setup
#1
Sup guys. I recently just got a ej8 not too long ago and want to start auto crossing in it. I just need help with my setup and what to do. Its a 98 ex with a jdm b16 thats semi built. As for suspension its on GC sleeves and tokico whites that are fully adjustable, rear si sway bar, pwjdm 3pt strut bar in the front and a nuespeed rear lower tie bar. Is that a good setup for a beginning? My problem is how soft my springs are. It is 200f and 180r. I read up people running 400f 450r and what not. Is my setup bad? Just need some info. First time doing this.

Just grab a set of true quality coilovers, not sleeves and a shock. Then you will be golden.

Nothing wrong with your set up, if you feel the springs are too soft you can contact ground control and they will make you custom springs to your desired rates. having the suspension corner balanced will also help.

Ive read up that the tokico whites are as good as koni yellows, i would of bought koni yellows but my GC sleeves arent made for the yellows so i had to settle with the tokico's, and that the gc and yellows are one of the best setups out and beat the full coilovers. I was also wondering if i should top hats? my car is pretty low. Is that a good investment?

top hats up front would help the shock travel yes.

and also, if it going to be track tuned, youll need to find a shop with scales for the corner balance.

Better break open that wallet.. this hobby isnt cheap!

coils
sways
braces
balance
engine work

id say $2k-2.5k

That set up is great. Stiffer springs would diffentley make it handle better.

Go out to the track and let the car tell you if the setup is good. Not us.

Quality seat time on the track > any mod you do to your car.

I've invested 16k into my car, and I have no idea what the car is truly capable of doing. It does what I need it to, and it does it very well, but I'm sure in the hands of a professional it would be insane around corners.
