how would i clean this? and would i take of just the solenoid part? like the top part? or the whole thing that connects to the block?

Im not completely sure. There is a screen between the head and valve that you can clean but usually its replaced not cleaned

Does your car transition into vtec normally when driving? If it does i doubt its stuck,,, dont even know if it can stick.
well its really hard to tell with my car when it kicks in. sometimes it feels like it doesnt kick in till 6000. sometimes it feels like it kicks in at 3000. sometimes 5k. it depends.
Are you low on oil? Or too much oil? And what type of oil.
To clean the solenoid you just take the whole housing off.
3 bolts. I think. Clean it with carb spray and let it dry. Replace the gasket.
I never really heard a stuck open or close solenoid btw.
But it should be kept clean.

not low. oil is nearing the full line.
its synthetic pennzoil. i recently changed it from valvoline synthetic. nothing changed

Can belive know one said this but if u think its messing up ur idle unplug the wire to it and see if your idle changes. If not then its not stuck open causing a problem. Also take a voltmeter to the wire there should be 0volt while idling or even reving while sitting n place
