code 8
okay so today when i fired up the engine the check light came on. i let the engine warm up then shut off the engine. i then jumper the code and it threw a code 8 TDC Sensor (Top Dead Center)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor. a day before the check light appeared my friend took out my dizzy to try it out on his car. what could be the problem and how to fix it. i own a 98 civic ex.

RE: code 8
the plug is by the crank. try unplugging then replugging it, it could be goobered up inside. also check the wires, its possible that the they have rubbed against something metal and started to short out.

my friend didnt mark the dizzy when he took it out. i doubt that he mess with the timming. all he did was take out the dizzy to try it on in his car. could it be the dizzy?

Well if he re-installed the dizzy in a different position from when the engine last ran. It would mess with the timing.

yeah the one you were talking about is the crankshaft fluctiation sensor it uses the cam sensor and the fluctiation sensor to determin if its misfiring. the TDC sensor is in the Distributor.
