Rear Deck Speaker Help
Well guys I'm planning on getting rid of my 8" JL W1 sub in favor of some Pioneer speakers that will drop into the rear deck of the Civic without any modifications. My question is has anybody ran into problems with the baskets or magnets of 6x9's hitting the trunk bar? If so can anybody recommend a speaker depth or even a speak size, I've researched and got two answers 6 1/2" and 6x9's.

RE: Rear Deck Speaker Help
I've got a set of Sony 6x9"s in the rear... the only downside i ran into was i had to take out the back seats and the rear side panels in order to get the rear cover off w/o breaking anything... the speakers fit in fine though even with bigger magnets... 6 1/2" speakers should be used up front for the front to speakers...

RE: Rear Deck Speaker Help
Thanks for the quick responses guys. I've already got 6 1/2"MB Quart separates up front and had to slightly modify the plastic baskets in the foor panels to get them to fit due to the large magnets on the MB's.

Do you happen to have the model # on your Sony 6x9's so I can compare the depth between the Pioneers I want to get and yours?

but im running alpine type-r, and those speakers have huge magnets, i thought i would have a problem with them but they fit without hitting anything, its really close, but its not close enough

RE: Rear Deck Speaker Help
Any pointers when it comes to removing the rear panels to avoid damaging the tabs or anything else. Any specific tools other than stubby flat/phillip head screwdrivers or plastic panel removing tools? I absolutely HATE! damaging my car.

RE: Rear Deck Speaker Help
sorry for taking so long to reply, been busy all day... i dont know the specific model of my Sony XPlods... I've had them for like 4 yrs now and got them from a friend who had them in his car for about 2 years... but in terms of taking off the side panels, just make sure you have all ths screws off then it should simply pop out... the hardest part will be trying to figure out how to remove the seats correctly...

RE: Rear Deck Speaker Help
All the panels pop out quite simply once you have all the screws out. There aren't too many. If it seems to be held up on something, it probably is.
