RE: rattle can up my car???
I know a few people who flat painted their 240's
wasn't to bad if you didn't inspect it

RE: rattle can up my car???
Dosent look bad at all. I've seen some pretty decent rattle cans done on eg's and 240's. I think I saw a write up on HT with some dude using a couple rollers
Yea they have a "50 Dollar Paint job" thread that's pretty long and really detailed as well...from what I saw the outcomes look really good as well.

I say go get a sprayer, some paint, some clear and borrow somebodys compressor..... It will look WAYYY better. Rattle can is a bit ghetto and ALWAYS look like poop up close.

i could do that, we have a 55 gallon compressor, buddy has a few spray guns, but the car will see quite a bit of track time since i just did a HPDS at PIR, so why spend the extra couple hundred on paint for the gun that'll cost more then rattle can, when the paint is just gonna end up getting nicked an what not? rather spend the extra cash on my vitara build! haha

RE: rattle can up my car???
Looks good for a rattle can.
I agree w/ ya cambo. For a beginner's track car, just rattle can it. I've seen many good lookin' rattle can jobs.
Here's a little something for ya from one of the best road racing books I've ever read.....
Oath of Frugality
by Jake Fisher
I, (place your name here, solemnly swear to build my car so that it is legal in my region. I won't put any more money into my car than absolutely necessary to make it reliable and reasonably competitive.* I will strive to find parts that are used, take time to sell off parts I don't use, and resist the temptation to buy parts that will make the car just a tiny bit faster. I will choose tires on the basis of longevity and cost over lap time. My car doesn't have to be pretty. And most importantly, I realize that the best bang for the buck for lower lap times is seat time, and not those fancy wheels that look really, really cool."
* Reasonably competitive: A car that can compete mid-pack and does not struggle from becoming last with a decent driver.
You already sound like you're well on the way to getting on the right track for a racer on a budget. Great job attending the HPDS. I encourage anyone wanting to race to go through one.

RE: rattle can up my car???
thanks bjscivic for those kind words! i also like the satin ej8 up above, but the only thing that makes me weary about that is sometimes if you do it crappily it looks like a shitty primer paint job. i was thinkining, olive green, with flat black trunk hood roof, flat black slipstreams, and maybe do the thin mouldings flat black as well?
