OBD2 + d16y8??
Last night i picked up a OBD2 (si)ecu which one of my buddies had laying around, free of course.
now my question is, can I put that ecu on my d16?
I heard from a couple dudes it would be ok, but i have my doubts.
Wont it run it to rich cuz its gonna think is a B16 right?
If I shouldnt then I guess I have a OBD2 ecu for sale if anyone is interested..lol

RE: OBD2 + d16y8??
I wouldn't use it on my d16y8. It wasn't made for our engine. I'd be afraid it would cause some damage, but that's me.
Make a few bucks off it and sell it.

RE: OBD2 + d16y8??
also one good thing about using that ECU thou. is that it is tuneable. you can hook it up via laptop and change just about everything via Chrome (also free) which will change your Rich problem...
i may be wrong thou, but i know D series ECU's are not tuneable. but these ones might be.

RE: OBD2 + d16y8??
Nope, it's still OBD2 and those are not tunable via Crome. You'll need to get a P28 or a coverted P06 and get it chipped.

i know there was some P28 thing involved... way to clean up the wrong answer.

RE: OBD2 + d16y8??
well in your pick you rcar is a 96-98 obd2a and a 99-00 si is obd2b so the ecu will not plug up unless tou get a jumper harness, or you can switch out engine and dash harnesses witch means you have to also get a 99-00 blower box and climate controls, all the si ecu(p2t) will do is make you car run rich and raise you revlimit to 8100rpm

and with that said, dont assume that if the computer limits your motors redline, that your engine could actually take it.
