My effing camera is broken!!!!!!!!
So last night my girl takes the camera to use it for a sec.....comes up and say when she went to zoom in on something, it just made a "crunching" sound inside the camera and now the lens is locked in position and the camera has completely seized all operation. I can't do anything with it. It just says lens error. Lens locked. I can't even turn it on or off......I just have to take out the battery.
I like Nikon but I think this sucks!!!! It's a little 7mp Nikon Coolpix 7900 point & shoot from like 2 years ago. I guess this is a sign to start saving for a nice DSLR.
By the way....any camera gurus here who can tell me if there's something I can do in order to prevent shipping it directly to Nikon for repair.

It's gonna be a long while before it happens but looks to be what I'll do. In the meantime, we'll see what Nikon will do for me.

Canon's coming out with the XSi in March. Comparable to the XTi with a few improvements. 12 megapixels!

And love it.
Basically a D80, Half the price and not as big and bulky.
I picked mine up for 660 at circuit city it was on sale.
