Hi Flow Cats??

Hey guys I have a noooobie question...

I was lookin online and i heard a couple things about HI FLOW CAT CONVERTERS.. seen they give you pretty good power for cheap.

I currently have a stock exhaust and dont wanna change it cus i hate the ricer sound many civic owners around my area have. No2

If i get one is gonna either be a greddy exhaust or nothin at all..and their pretty pricey..Banghead

if i put a hi flow cat on my stock exhaust will i feel any difference? is it gonna give me that signature ricer exhaust sound or a deeper sound??

thanks guyswave

RE: Hi Flow Cats??

it'll give it a slight rasp because your gonna have more air flowing through it instead of being restricted

now how much of a rasp.. good question Gotme

RE: Hi Flow Cats??

I had my dead stock cat (240K miles on it) replaced with a CatCo high flow catalytic converter. There was no power difference (other than getting rid of an old clogged up cat), as Honda allegedly puts pretty high-flow ones on to begin with. If you'd like a new catalytic converter, definitely get a high flow one of course. But if you feel yours is in okay condition, hold off on it. It's a ~$200-$250 best saved for the necessity. :-)

Best of luck whatever route you choose, but be careful around Magnaflow, they like to throw CEL's in our cars due to the oxygen sensor bung location.

And1

It will be a tad louder & a tad more raspy. That's just what happens when you "open up" a Honda exhaust.

Won't make a noticeable difference unless you run a power adder of some sort. Quality High flow cats have the same materials as the stock cats, the only difference is a bigger inlet/outlet and sometimes center section as well. "hi-flow" cats are a test pipe in disguise and will definitely give you a rasp sound along with the occasional "pop" when you let off the throttle....pure rice..lol

NA is fine but, i'd rather be blown!
