Honestly, I'd wait and get one that hasn't been touched, cos I know thats what I did!

Do the paperclip jumper trick on the service connector to get the CEL to light up on the dash.

I would honestly just wait... rushing into something because you really want it will lead to great regret... trust me... I sell cars... I know!!! I always tell my customers to really wait and see what they really want instead of rushing into anything...

RE: Hello.... new to the site!!! (opinions needed too!)

ok i just saw the car really quick... heres the update...

1) hood looks to be misaligned because the hood latch seems to be higher on one side..

2) car is a 99... checked out the registration AND the climate control knobs are on the left of the console...

3) where is that plug or whatever located to check a CEL..?? i tried looking for it under the passenger side glove and didnt seem to find it... on my car (94 civic) its kinda just dangling there... but there was NOTHING on the ej8..

any input would be great!!!

#3(ECU) is located at the bottom ( behind )kick pannel under the glove box next to the speaker if ur gonna do the paper clip way otherwise the plug for the diagnostic(sp?) check is under the dash by the steering wheel

Welcome! Talk her down to 3000 and fix it. CEL is probabaly due to O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold. Probably went bad. I replaced mine at about that many miles. Hoods are a easy fix. Just loosen some bolts, adjust it and tighten it back down. Get a carfax make sure that there wasn't any kind of front end damage to it.
