Friends B16B EJ8

Just figured id throw this out here. A friend of mine has a B16B swap into his EJ8, and it sound amazing, i wish i had a vtec crossover like his, anyways heres the vid, it's short but you get the idea

how does one make the crossover so distinctive? or is it just because it's a b16?...
