If I remember correctly, it only works w/ obd1. I never paid attention because I was already converted to obd1.
With your modifications, the controller will help really minimally. As Jeremy said, the stock engagement point is pretty much ideal (even w/ your bolt-ons) You would see much more of a difference if you had more aggressive cams, valvetrain, higher or lower compression...however, it's still not the biggest gain.
If you're serious about getting a tuning tool, just save your money, convert to obd1 and have your computer chipped & tuned by a pro. This will net you WAY more power and your car will just generally feel like a different car as far as performance goes. The little vtec controller is pretty much useless.

well as of the strict regulations california has.
i think installing the vtec controller sounds like a waste of money and time. bolt ons are easy to take off.
but if i were to get cams, valvetrain, higher or lower compression,
i would need a project motor on the side.
now im trying to save up to make that happen
