DIY Interior Headrest Camera Mount

Cost: About $4

Purpose: To make your own in-car camera mount that bolts onto your headrests for stable video coverage on a budget

Time: Up to about 2 hours

Materials and tools needed: PVC pipe roughly 1″ in diameter, power drill and various bits, ruler, 1/4″ carriage bolt with matching nuts and washers

Worth it? As a temporary solution - definitely.

Good stuff zoops...mine is similar...but I like the mobility of my seats...so I did the passenger seat version. I'd eventually like to get a rollbar and mount someday...but this will do for now.

Yep, Gabe's idea is what I originally set out to make. In the process of doing it though, and trying to get the camera more towards the center of the car, I decided that it would be much more stable to connect both seats. Sure, it takes twice as long to put in.. but it's also much more sturdy (as opposed to using Gabe's method and extending it out to the middle of the car)

Also, as with any DIY like this.. there really is no "correct" or "BEST" way of doing it.. my DIY writeup is merely to get the wheels spinning in peoples' heads to make their own or improve upon my idea. I had no clue where to start on something like this, until I read someone else's writeup explaining how to do Gabe's style

I'm with you on the steadyness part...Mine still needs some refining...but some of it may be do to the size of the camera I'm using...It's fairly larger than today's digital cameras. It's about 5-6 years old.
