Cambering Help

I've heard somewhere before that there is a little trick you can do to fix the cambering for the back wheels of EJ hatches/coupes. Something in the terms of adding some bushings of some sort so it can get more straighter and vertical. My back wheels don't camber but its still kind of annoying seeing the back wheels slightly slanted. Couldn't find it on Honda-tech, anyone know what I'm talking about.

One link.....

I know there's more and better. I just can't find the main one that everyone uses....including myself way back in the day.

RE: Cambering Help

Yea me and my buddy did it on my car when we lowered it, he called it "shimming" and it basically meant adding ~ 1 washer per 1 inch dropped. I also had to order some custom bolts...

Uhh...I don't remember the specifics though, mostly because he did most of the work.

This is what it all basically looked like:

You take out the stock bolts because they will be too short when you add the shims in. Then just add the washers in using the 1 washer - 1 inch drop formula. For example, my coupe was lowered 1.7" in rear, so we just put 2 washers in the rear, and put everything back together.

-(4) M10 x 1.25 40mm bolts. (45mm will work if you can't find 40's)
**M10 = Shaft diameter / 1.25 = thread pitch / 40mm = length of bolt**
--3/8" galvanized washers

^^^And that's exactly what you'll need to do it. I paid 7 dollars for all of it...much better than buying a $100 shim kit Smile.

RE: Cambering Help

Nah not at all...just swap the stock bolts for the longer ones, and add a washer or two...Easy, in theory.

From my experience, make sure you have a buddy to help you lift the suspension assembly (for lack of a better term) up...and have very adequate lighting. Some sort of degreaser or rust remover will help a lot as well.

RE: Cambering Help

It's just 4 bolts. Real easy bro. Just do what was stated. The hardest part is simply lining up the new bolts because the entire assembly is heavy and wants to just hang there. This is where a jack, or a friend to help lift it while you're installing the bolts helps. Just take time to thread the bolts in perfectly. I've heard some people cross thread the new bolts in simply cause they tried to screw it in before everything was lined up.
