RE: Broken Hood Release!

if you buy it through a honda dealer its about $18 for the part, and its easy enough to replace yourself, i had to do mine about about 2 months ago, i wouldnt suggest having the dealership put it in cause they will over charge

RE: Broken Hood Release!

DIY hood release Latch... just need a piece of metal with a ring on the end and a screw!

Worked for me until some @$$Holes cut my hood cable trying to break into my car... then I had to pay $18 for a new one...

RE: Broken Hood Release!

I'm gonna talk to the shop tomorrow and have them pay to have it replaced, I was just wondering how much it would cost just in case he offers me cash to get it fixed. I've already printed out a parts list from Majestic Honda so he can't short me. The only thing I can't do is factor in labor and the inconvenience he has caused me confused0036

RE: Broken Hood Release!

it's really easy to replace... but if you want to just keep the $$ and only spend $1.50 then the DYI release is the way to go! hahaha

RE: Broken Hood Release!

Well I did not receive a return call from the shop that performed the smog so I filed a claim with the BBB hopefully some action will take place.

I was quoted $172 here locally for the replacement and installation of the hood release latch from DCH HondaWow

RE: Broken Hood Release!

Well guys after filing a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) I got the problem resolved they paid for a replacement hood release latch and offered to have it installed too. I declined on the install so that I can gain knowledge on the install when I put it in myself. The only gripe I have is that the latch is black and my interior is gray, this is even after I gave them the interior color code off of my door jam. Eek7 Oh well at least it is in a inconspicuous place
