A Happy Ending after all!
After getting the new floor jack out of the box and reading the instructions for initial use because I am going to replace my oil pan gasket and do a tune-up, I decided to do the same initial use procedures to the broken floor jack as well and low and behold it now works! I saved myself $60 Woot

Here are some pics of the differences in the two if anybody cares Gotme






The red one is a 3.5 ton and the yellow one is the 3 ton what I found strange is the larger of the two (red) has a lower deck height and a higher lift too.

I believe I paid around $120
The only reason I even considered the 3.5 ton floorjack in the first place is that I have a Chevrolet Suburban which is EXTREMELY Heavy and i did some tweaking to my tortion bars a while back and I decided to get a floorjack that could pull double-duty.
