Brake lights stuck on?

My girlfriend drives a 96 nissan 200sx
and all of a sudden her brake lights came on
car has been off and the brake pedal is not stuck down
they will not go off, and when pressing the break nothing changes.
anybody got any idea on what gives?
Seeing as it would be unsafe to drive her car since she technically
wouldn't have functioning brake lights

RE: Brake lights stuck on?

its the break switch some times the switch goes out and some times the little rubber that hits the swithc just gets worn out and if its just the rubber you can do the old trick of tape n washers to the brake lever so it comes in contact with the switch
