I have a 97 dx. With the cat on the header. How would I install the new header ( generic one) without the ecu trippin out or throwing codes?? My current stock header is cracked and nasty. Sorry for the newb question....

(the new header has place for both o2's. But wont the car run like crap because of wrong readings from cat delete.....)
i'm not 100% sure, but i think that if you get a header, you will either need to get a cat or test pipe to get it to properly fit.

basically, the header you're getting is going to be too short to mate with the b-pipe and you'll end up with a 6 inch gap there. you can get a cat or a test pipe so that everything works out for you.

again, i'm not 100% sure on that.
i lined up the 2nd piece (downpipe) where it would go, and it sits just as far back as the stock unit, so i would assume it would be ok....i really dont mind having to weld up anything or extend it....

my main concern and question is how its going/if will run ok since the 2nd o2 is ususally behind a cat, and not just a 2nd in line o2.... is there a way to bypass that if so... ??
if you remove your cat and not install new one you will get a check engine light (p0420). I did this to mine and had to get an EX cat and extend the O2 sensor harness.
does the ex have a o2 in the cat or something??

i will try to take pics of what im talkin about tomorrow morning Wink
yep.. theres an o2 sensor in the header and the cat on the ex.
hmm, drove around all day today on it... still no check engine... any ideas??? i just plugged in both the o2's, because there were 2 places to put em in on header.... how long does it usually take for the check engine to come on?

You'll definitely see one come on the next time you start it up. That kind of code is called a 2 trip code, meaning in needs 2 fresh key cycles and the problem to show up on both ( which it is ). You could just pull the bulb out if you want the easy way out, only problem with that would be emissions testing and you won't know if your car has a separate issueGotme

ive started it way more than 2 times... i even filled it up etc... any ideas? i know the light works... im gonna take it into kragen, see if they can pull any codes...
no clue what it could be. i SHOULD be throwing a code with my header but i'm not but i know i'll definitely fail emissions Lol
