Make sure you use the OBD2a distributor and use a OBD2b-2a Conversion with the proper ECU P2P. Plus do a search on Google. There are numerous write-ups on the "Mini-me" Conversion.

RE: 00 d16y8 head on 97 dx help

why would i need to do a obd conversion???

the car is obd2a

the ecu will be obd2a

the head is just obd2b

if i use the other dizzy from the obd2a y7 there should be no need to convert am i correct?

RE: 00 d16y8 head on 97 dx help

Do what you want. It's your car. Just giving you feed back. OBD2a Harness is a little different then OBD2B They don't just plug in. Plus the DX ECU doesn't have VTEC. P2P does. You want to run the ECU for the Head because DX is a different Setup then the EX. Different IM Different Injectors Plus VTEC. You understand what I am saying? You can't just throw stuff on and expect it just to be better. You have to get all the Components to make it work properly. You may get away with the dizzy. I am just saying use what goes with the Head. It will make life easier.

RE: 00 d16y8 head on 97 dx help

nah i heard the harness all the clips go right in besides the IACV fix. for which i have the 2 wire round plug to do it. i know i have to use the ecu the main thing im wondering about is ...

will the y7 distributor work on the 99 head? because then everything else would clip right in besides me doing the basic wiring of vtec wires iacv fix and knock sensor

RE: 00 d16y8 head on 97 dx help

Common sense would tell me to use the components for the head you want to use. Most of my experience is with the Z6 / Y8 and all things B. I know when people do "Mini-me" swaps with A Z6 head they have to use the OBD2 Dizzy cap and just swap out the insides and Vice versa. I found a couple of good links maybe they can be of some help. I'll post more as I find them:

Here's the info you are looking for:

00 EX Dizzy
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto...-WESTEC%29

97 DX Dizzy
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto...-WESTEC%29

Should be good to go. Just make sure that your parts are new. Learn something new everyday. But then Again. I've never owned a DX anything to make comparisons to.
